Guest Post: Beauty Myths

Hey guys!
Today Penny and Clio have let me write a post for their brilliant blog. Today I will be posting about beauty myths Here are five widely believed statements that are actually complete myths!

Wearing nail polish will make your nails yellow:
This is slightly true, however not for everyone. Darker colours like reds and dark pinks can stain your nails, along with cheaper brands of nail polish. Althought this is not always the case as Barry M's range of nail polish range from £2.99 to £4.99 and do not stain at all.

Brushing your hair 100 strokes a day makes it shine:
This is most definitely not true. In fact, brushing your hair too much can damage your hair as you are tugging at it. How could that possibly make your hair shine?

Curling your eyelashes with mascara on breaks them:
This is also not true, although personally I avoid it. I always curl my lashes before applying mascara. If you curl them straight after applying the mascara the chances are that the mascara will still be wet and it will stick to the curlers, leaving them dirty and can make your lashes stick to the curlers.

You know your skin is clean when you wash it, it squeaks:
Definitely not true. If your skin is squeaking then it is probably because you're using the wrong products. Or that you have your skin type wrong. Many people including me, just guess their skin type and buy products purely for that skin type. If your skin is squeaky just use a basic face wash and leave everything else so that your skin stops squeaking!

Wearing lipstick dries out your lips:
This is false. If you just wear lipstick then yes it probaly will but it's really important that you keep your lips moisturised! I use a Nivea lip balm or Vaseline. Just apply before bed and then in the morning they're smooth for the application of lipstick.

I hope your have enjoyed reading this short guest post.

NOTD: Glitter Galore!

Hey Guys!

Okay so today you are getting a 'Nails Of The Day' post because I quite liked how I painted my nails! Its nothing special or difficult, just a good old coat (or three) of glitter nail polish! This simple go to style adds a bit of glamour to your everyday outfits and school uniform! (Even if you aren't meant to be wearing nail varnish at school!) Below you can see a few pictures showing how my nails look. It really is an easy way to give yourself a slightly more artsy and interesting manicure than just your bog standard layer of colour.

So these are the 5 nail polishes to use to create this look. Now, you don't need three different glitters for this but I love the effect glitter gives so I fished lots of different colours out of my nail varnish collection! I started off with a black base because it makes the colours stand out and look more vibrant against it. I then put lots and lots of layers of glitter nail varnish on and voila! You are done. All you have left to do is put on a layer of top coat. I used 'Sally Hansen Insta-Dri' because I am extremely impatient when it comes to letting nail varnish dry, but you can use any top coat you have to hand!

As you can see, I really love Barry M nail varnish as it is very cheap and actually quite good quality for the price. If you haven't used Barry M before, definitely give it a try! You can buy all of these products from most good drugstores including Boots and Superdrug. Unfortunately though, the 'Barry M Superdrug Xmas Limited Edition' glitter polish isn't available to buy any more!

The colours I used (in order of photograph) were:

WARNING: Glitter nail varnish is a real pain to get off!
